University of Melbourne

Founded in 1853, it is one of the oldest universities in Australia. It houses around 42000 students along with 6,500 staff members and 280,000 alumni. 12, 000 students from 130 different countries are pursuing their academic goals here. Noble laureate Peter Doherty teaches here and so do fellows of the Royal Society, David Solomon, and David Boger.

Australian National University

It was established in 1946. It was initially created for postgraduate research by the parliament of Australia. It also boasts of illustrious alumni. The vice president is of the university is Brian Schmidt (Nobel Prize, Physics, 2011).

University Of Sydney

It was founded in 1851 and is the oldest university in Australia. 42,000 students from 134 countries are pursuing their studies at this university. It also holds exchange programs which facilitate the exchange of students in 30 countries with their 280 exchange programs. It has been the college of more than five Australian presidents.

University of Queensland

It has 38000 students with 12000 from other countries. The international students have come from 141 countries to study here. It has one of the largest Ph.D. cohorts of Australia, with 13,800 students registered for it. It also boasts of an illustrious alumnus who includes a Nobel laureate, two high profile CEOs, Oscar-winner Geoffrey Rush and the renowned poet Bronwyn Lea. The lush green campus in inner Brisbane is another advantage.

Monash University

It is situated in Melbourne. It gets its name from the famous military engineer, Sir John Monash. The university has 44,000 undergraduates and 20000 graduates. It has expanded its horizons by opening up a teaching center in Prato, Italy. It also runs a research school in Mumbai and a graduate school in Jiangsu Province, China. It has also produced the famous novelist Peter Carey (Booker Prize awardee), the famous musician Nick Cave , and playwright David Williamson.
