Everything about the update on Australian visa due to Coronavirus

Important Updates

COVID-19 has affected people who have Australian visas and those who are waiting to get it issued. If you are wondering what next step you need to take then you should visit our Migration Agents in Brisbane. Currently, there has been a restriction on entry which started from 20th March 2020 and it will be there until further notice comes out.

Exemptions from Travel Restrictions

Australian citizens, permanent residents, and their immediate family members can travel and they are exempted from the Australian travel restrictions. The immediate family members include:

  • spouses
  • dependents
  • legal guardians

Without a visa, you won’t be able to travel to Australia. When you are applying for the visa you need to have all the essential documents and birth certificates. If you are allowed to travel then you need to self-isolate yourself for 14 days, in a nearby hotel or your home.

In case of a temporary visa, there is a need to give the proof and all the essential documents need to be submitted to apply for the visa. You cannot travel until the DHA advises you to do so and in case you are asked you need to go through the self-isolation procedure.

Travel Restrictions on the Partner visa

The applicants with the pending Subclass 309 and subclass 820 visa and who are outside Australia need to apply for the visa for their travel to live in Australia. In case you are planning to apply for the visa then you need to consult the migration agent and they will let you know what steps you need to take to apply for the visa correctly.

Student visa holders can work for extended hours

With the outbreak of COVID-19, there is a need to meet the demand in the supermarket. To do so, the Australian Government has announced the international student will work for extended hours in the supermarket.

Normally, the student is not allowed to work more than 40 hours during their course of study. However, by keeping the current situation in mind the student can work in this busy period. The employers need to follow the Australian workplace laws and the students will have the same workplace laws as the rest of the employees.

This way the students are given flexible working hours and the current demand will also be met. The work restriction will be lifted from around 20,000 nursing students. This way they will provide health care support across the country who need them the most.

Temporary visa

The people who have applied for the temporary visa need to give in writing about the visa cancellation. To make sure you do it correctly it’s best to seek advice from the professionals. You need to give proof you have been outside the mainland of China for around 2 weeks.
